LABOR RELATIONS DIVISION TO AWARD TEN $5,000 SCHOLARSHIPS IN 2024
WHO MAY APPLY?
Any senior high school student or current college student who is an employee or is the child or grandchild of an employee of a Labor Relations Division contractor member and who will be attending an accredited academic institution beginning Fall 2024 to pursue a construction-related course of studies, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, etc. Eligibility for the scholarship includes coop students and interns working for contractor members. Additionally, eligibility is open to part-time students or students in continuing education programs who may receive up to $5,000 annually in scholarship, depending on the number of courses taken during the academic year.
HOW WILL THE APPLICATION BE JUDGED?
This year there will be up to ten $5,000 scholarships awarded. Selections for the awards will be based upon: (1) scholastic achievement; (2) interest and effort in preparing for your vocation; (3) extra curricula activities, including community service; (4) personal recommendations; (5) essay question; (6) thoroughness of the completed application; and (7) financial need.
CONFIDENTIALITY OF THE APPLICATION
Each application will be submitted directly to outside academic personnel who will have exclusive access to these applications, and who will decide the ten winning applications. These academic representatives will be the sole persons having access to the application forms and the application forms will be destroyed after they announce their decisions to the CIM-LRD.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION
All completed applications must be received by April 1, 2024, in order to be considered. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT
In addition to completing the application form, a transcript of high school or college grades through the latest marking period must accompany the application, along with a letter of recommendation from a representative of the school where the applicant is currently in attendance reflecting the standing of the applicant in that particular class. Additional recommendations from people familiar with the applicant’s ability and character reflecting schoolwork, extra curricula work, and community service are welcome but are not mandatory.
